Getting cigarette burns off of car seats

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a couple in my new car I need to get rid of. The persons responsible for the burns are still alive (because one of them is me, and I don't even smoke cigarettes...) only because I don't care enough to actually hunt them down and make them fix this.

According to the internet, you need to cut and sew, which really sucks and I guess applies to much more major burns. The ones I have are just the little one where the fabric stuff on the seat is melted just a little bit. It's microfiber or whatever. How do I make these go away?

Well if the fabric is actually melted, then there probably isnt much you can do... But if its just soot/ash, maybe a good scrub?

Cut and sew might be your only option man.

i know from my own experience in car carpet, the best option is to cut from an inconspicuous spot, glue to burn spot, brush fabric to homogenize. This may work for seat fabric as well.

No. It's just I saw them and now I am concerned about them, but it's 1:34 am and right now I should be asleep...

I worked as a car detailer through and immediately after high school, and there used to be a guy we called 'The Magic Man' that would come in and repair burns or other defects in interior fabric so well you wouldn't notice the repair work.

He used a glue gun and what was basically powdered fabric (which came in a multitude of colors) to fill the wound, then would take tools that could recreate 'texture' to help finish it off. He could also repair leather/vinyl, but the end result was never as quite good as the fabrics.

Anyways...call your local auto detailing shops and see if they have anyone that they use.

Edit: This seems to be a home version of what the magic man would come in with. His kit had far more colors and stuff for leather repair, but the technique/idea is the same.
