I never knew California had so many "Cowboys".
After seeing all of this coverage for the new laws in place I have seen nothing but cowboys hats.
Anyone else make this observation? |

so the last band I was in, Gunpowder, used to wear cowboy gettup. It was Cow-Punk. This is before Brokeback Mountain came out, so that wasn't the reason why. Before I joined them, I used to go see them as they were friends of mine, and my old drummer had joined the band at one point. Then they asked me to be their lead guitarist, and I was like, well, I've never done that before, why not. After I joined, the guys wanted to ditch the whole "cowboy" thing anyway (THANK YOU!).
So one day, the singer told us why they started it. He said it was because he showed up at a show once and was wearing the get up, and somehow people liked it, so it stuck. Turned out it was because he was chasing some latino cowboy, at a cowboy bar. |

| | <-- That guy looks like me, but old. | | Join Date: Aug 2002 Location: Arlington TX | | | When I was a kid I actually worked as a real cowboy on my cousins ranch in the summers. The darnedest thing? We didn't wear cowboy hats while doing actual cowboy work. We wore ballcaps.
Now when I got old (21) and my hair rapidly started leaving my vicinity, THEN I got cowboy hats.
So the real answer? Male pattern baldness.

it ain't a fashion statement,, it just keeps me from cookin' my gourd |
