I have a few old items that I really have no use for but I feel ba about letting go. One item is an old rifle my Dad gave me that used for plinking as a kid, but it only catches dust in my closet. The other is a high school ring that I never wanted, but my Mother insisted that she order for me. I have hardly ever worn it, and I am now way too old to walk around with a high school ring on, IMO.
Should I just pawn the rifle and melt the ring, or should be sentimental? Sometimes I feel like I am being guilt tripped by my poor, deceased parents.

lowsound | I've gotta agree with this. What would look cooler than an odd colored bullet capped with fake gem? Plus, when it hits the target the gem will shatter.
The ring you don't need. Your mother wanted you to have the ring for whatever sentimental crap women don't seem to understand men don't go through. I'd keep the gun though. If/when you have kids shooting would be fun for them, you should already know this. If your kids don't like shooting, get rid of the thing.

I have several things from my Father that I really value. I have some neat stuff from my Mom too. It's just that I don't really like jewelry, and I neve get to shoot anymore.
It doesn't hurt to keep them though.

My dad gave me his old POS squier bullet guitar for xmas because he knows Imma into music and he already had it so thats all he could afford. It's my 3rd guitar and I don't even play guitar. And as much as I'd like to sell it to fund something, I just can't... cause I'll know Imma miss it when he's passed on. |

"...And I'd have gotten away with it, if only I'd gotten rid of the evidence. But hey, I'm a packrat."

Not so sure on the ring. I don't like jewelry, so nothing I say here would be of any value.

When my step dad passes I will get my modified Colt Gold Cup .45 back finally and I will inherit his WWII Colt GI .45 he got from the Air Force when he retired in 1974 along with a pump .22 rifle he has had since he was a kid. Both will be locked in my gun safe until I die. Well maybe, I might have a reliability check done on the .45 and shoot it. |

the gun, I'd feel less inclined to keep, and I'd see if it was worth something.
just my .02

Normally, I'm the first one to say junk/pawn/smuggle whatever it is but those things don't take up much space physical and do seem to have some real meaning so I say make them decorative... the HG Channel could probably help with that more than I could .
