Ok, just got my new specs. Coupled with my flecks of silver hair, I look pretty dapper
Too disorganised and forgetful to cope with the paraphernalia that accompanies contacts, and too squeamish to have my eyeballs zapped. Hearing the odd 'OMG-look what went WRONG!' horror story about laser eye surgery also puts me off.
Anyone else the same? Anyone had the treatment and swear by it? Anyone still not accepting that their eyes aint what they used to be and happy to squint?
Just curious? |

| | | | I have had glasses for about 12 years I think.. I am 24. About a year I ago I tried contacts again and I can make them work. For the year I had contacts, I still have a good amount of my 3 month supply. I usually only wear em if I am going out somewhere, or will be driving with a good amount of sun or I feel like wearing sunglasses. No eye surgery.

| | | | Glasses.
Sticking my own finger in my eyes at least 2x a day does not sound appealing.
Going blind because of poor insurance is lower on the list than sticking a finger in my eye. |

Just curious? | I got glasses at age 44, and don't mind them at all. I've been wearing them 3 years now, and they don't really bother me at all. I haven't had any motivation to look into contacts or surgery, because I'm perfectly happy with the fact I have aging eyes that need a little help. |

As for laser surgery, my astigmatism is really, REALLY bad so right now the only Lasik I'm eligible for is still in experimental stages, so no thank you. |

There should be a speccy-four-eyes club on TB |

For the cost of a couple of modestly-priced basses I could get both eyes done. Something about the "cheap price = will they screw it up?" factor kinda scares me, but I hear the surgery is getting more and more accurate all the time. At my age, I will still require reading glasses even with lasik, so I'm thinking, just keep the glasses and contact routine going.

Been wearing specs for 25+ years but something still feels a bit too risky to have the surgery. Probably paranoia on my part, but I don't want to be the person they make that 'Eye Surgery Disaster Freaks' tv special about |

Put another tally in the "scared of surgery" column. The pros just don't outweight the cons for me by a long shot.
