So I was in the smoke pit earlier, and we were talking about how you can find all sorts of neat stuff on Google, including things about yourself that you didn't even know! Time for a game...

Go to Google, type in your full first name and full last name in quotation marks, and see what comes up.

RULES:
1. No personal information! Do not post your full name or any other info that would identify you. Maybe you think you have nothing to lose here on TB, but even bass players can be without scruples.
2. How many hits.
3. Interesting hits about you. (remember that you shouldn't put information that will identify you to others - be fairly general about it.)

You may be surprised at what you find. I'll go first.

I remember last year I did a Google search of my own name, the first result was;

"Josh Fahey* is a college drop out who recieved low grades and constantly skipped class"

I lol'd. Pity the page doesn't exist anymore.
*my full name

516,000 hits, and probably none of them are about me. Apparently I have a more common name than I thought...

Oh yea? I have 1,230,000 hits.

The Weirdest thing, is that in Football (Soccer) on my FAVOURITE Team (Glasgow Celtic) there's a full-back named "Mark Wilson"
First off, my Mom is from Glasgow.
He was born exactly a month before me, but a few years older.
He plays on my favourite team,
He plays the SAME position I play.

Very cool

I was also a...
1) Murder Victim
2) American Footballer
3) Comedian
4) English Footballer
5) Golfer
6) Judge
7) Musician
8) Magician
9) Politician
10) Pool Player
11) Radio Broadcaster
12) Scottish Footballer
13) Singer
14) Dancer

I have a feeling the name "Mark Wilson" Could go on for quite a while.

Yup - what you are celebrating is how "common" a name you have!

I prefer having a name that is unique and which nobody else on the net has!

Yea, really.
If I put "Mark Wilson" without the quotations, I get 10,500,000 hits.

I have a unique name, so all three dozen or so hits are directly about me. Half of them are cool, half of them are shrapnel from a political "scandal" I was involved in as a spokesman, where bloggers passed the story around and used my name a bit too much.

1890 hits (search on the whole web)
4380 hits (hits on pages in swedish)
1680 hits (hits on pages from finland)

How on earth is it possible that when I limited the search to list only pages in Swedish, I got significantly more hits than on the whole web? The search line was exactly the same in all cases ("firstname lastname")

Just for information, I am Swedish speaking and have a typical Swedish name. That's why I did a search on Swedish pages too.

There's not many hits about myself and not really any other interesting hits either... I appear AFAIK only on one page on the internet.

Seriously, I'm once again going to put it out there that you may not want to display your full name, or specifics about yourself. We all realize that a determined person can find you no matter what, but I'd rather you all didn't make it easier for potential identity theft.

I have been the victim of that once, it's not pleasant.

According to Google, I am apparently a very popular and successful young smooth jazz keyboardist.

I actually played with the "other" Marcus Johnson last year, he sat in at my regular gig. Really nice guy.

60 hits. I have a pretty unique name. Most of the hits are from the bands myspace page. And some from my business's website.
