This is seriously one of the most absurd statements I've even read.

Welcome to the behavior of the EU and why some countries could be leaving it in the next few years . . .

Nothing new in the EU. A couple of years ago the EU organization that's involved in food regulations decided to ban cucumbers and bananas that were overly curved. Those regulations, and about 100 pages worth of other dopey food regs were eventually tossed out.

As with most things like this I suspect that the real reason behind these regulations is to give some kind of competitive advantage to some group that currently has the bureaucrats favor.

Ah, I read another article about it.

The reason they refuted the claim is that it stated that *bottled water* could help prevent dehydration. It is too narrow (and commercially interested) of a claim to make.

Are people really so stupid that they'll think that only bottled water with hydrate them, and no other water will? If that was true, Americans would only drink Gatorade and Powerade because of those companies' claims!

Well, apparently they're stupid enough that you have to warn them about the temperature of coffee
