The Godfather - Appreciation Thread

Looks like there hasn't been one here yet, so I might as well start it off!

I just watched the trilogy over the last three nights. Had never seen III before, and I still can't believe the ending. Tragic on so many levels. Al Pacino is amazing, and Marlin Brando too of course.

What do you think? Best movie ever? So-so? Overrated?

Part 3 is terrible. The first two are great.

Long movies, good for watching a little bit at a time, and continueing the rest later. Sort of like how you read a book.

The Godfather Pt II may be the best sequel ever.
Robert Deniro is at his peak.

I really hate to agree with Bad Brains on anything, but I have to here. OK, so III isn't terrible, but it's no where near the level of I and II. These, along with LOTR, are my favorite movies.

I & II are great movies. Haven't seen III.

I remember reading the book. And the fear that Luca Brasi instilled in EVERYONE. In the movie he's a slow dullard.

I'm trying to remember what other books that I'd read that WERE the Godfather stories in real life... It might have been Bill Roemer's "Man Against Mob" or something like that...

I remember seeing a tricked out Cadillac with an Itallian Flag airbrushed on the hood, and when the horn was deployed the theme from Godfather would play...

Probably the greatest tribute to a great movie one could ever witness.
