A Formula Student car to be exact. Some people may know it as Formula SAE.
I'm part of this years DUTRacing Team from Delft. www.dutracing.nl Together with 60 other students we're going to design, build, test and race a car that does the 0-60 (mph) faster than a Maserati Quattroporte and has a top speed of around 150 km/h.
Delft is currently ranked 5th in the world, so we'll have to build a great car to maintain that status.

What kind of engine does it have?
It kinda sounded like a 2 cyl. motorcycle engine.

Reason: 2 cyl not 4 cyl.

Dave | It's a single cylinder. Honda I thought, not sure. It runs on E85. |

Hope you have a better experience. It's definitely a cool idea.

RIT builds a 4 cylinder tube frame car. (We build a 1 cylinder carbon frame car.) The detail and working on the car itself is pretty refined. They make different design choices than us but they know why they make the design choices, and that's the most important. They definitely know what they're doing. I thought they were currently ranked 12th in the world.

I'm a designer, though. My awesome sense of aesthetics won't get a car to run better.

I'm part of the suspension team of the car and my task is to design the spring damper system (SDS) together with a teammate. The rules test did go surprisingly well but the results aren't available as of yet. This week's deadline is to finish the Functions and Requirements of your part, SDS for me. We're almost finished with that, just some minor alterations and clarifications. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
