It seems I will be in Toronto Aug. 13-18 for business and some pleasure. This will be my first time visiting Canada. I will be attending the AMC Conference for Association Management Companies. Last year I was supposed to attend this same conference in San Diego, but I was side tracked when a 17 girl took me out on my motorcycle so I am hoping I will actually make it this year.
My wife and I will be staying in the Fairmont Royal York hotel. During our free time, what is within walking distance for us to see and where are some good restaurants? |

....Club Bass will be nearby, you should definitely make it a point to visit!

That place features some of the most insanely talented Jazz musicians out there - all variants of jazz too, so there will be something to suit your tastes. In terms of restaurants, What do you like? One the Canada's best Thai chefs has a place in a tucked away corner that will blow your mind. Give me a little more to go on and I can tell you more.

I like Sushi, but my wife doesn't so a place that serves sushi and something else would be good. I like just about anything, Italian, Mediterranean, Asian, Indian, a good Steak and I like to try different non-mainstream dishes. Quote:

It is truly, truly, the most astounding Thai food you will ever eat. Take out is cheap. Dining in is pricier, but the place is pure class - menu is much more extensive, gourmet to the extreme. The place gets nothing but good reviews.

You could do the tourist thing and go up the CN Tower, take a walk up Yonge St. to Bloor St., take another walk down Queen St. W., walk through Chinatown (Spadina St., from Queen to Bloor), Kensington Market (just W of Spadina near Chinatown)...
Lots things to see and do. |

Lots things to see and do. | Don't forget to add Church St. to that list. Just do it in the day light, lots of great little cafes and restaurants.

Not sure what my schedule will be but would be cool to come down to TO and meet up at a place like the Rex. http://www.therex.ca/ Another good spot for jazz would be Trane Studio http://www.tranestudio.com/
You are really close to the Skydome, or whatever it's called these days. You could catch a Blue jays game if you like baseball. Also close to ACC. Might be a concert coming that you could take in. http://www.theaircanadacentre.com/
Lots of great suggestions from others already. I assume your USD will still be strong so that makes it even better.

Does anyone want to trade me a Toronto Starbuck's coffee mug for a Raleigh, NC coffee mug? |

By the way, the weather forcast for the next 4 days is about 29 Celcius (84 farenheit). |

We are staying at the Fairmont on Front street. We walked downtown, there are a lot of nice restaurants. I walked by this Indian restaurant, it smelled so good. I found where Starbuck's is located, hopefully I can get my Toronto mug.
I had an Alexander Keiths on tap last night, good beer. |

It's an awesome basement pub that only serves up microbrews. If you're a pub+beer man, it's the place to go. http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&um=...image&resnum=1 |

I went to the Elephant Castle for Fish & Chips and a few Keith's Amber pints. |
