Good area for college?

Sign in to disble this ad
Im just starting my Junior year, and starting to look into colleges and stuff. But just because im going for school doesn't mean i can't have fun right? that's what college is all about.

So, anyone know a place, where theres a good music scene? Like a good place to start a band, or where it is fairly easy to find one. I like Metal / Progressive rock. So it would be nice to attend a place where Lots of those kind of bands go.

Thanks alot

Doesn't almost every college have a great music scene?

agreed, but im also very biased.

having lived or spent a lot of time in san diego, orange county and la, i would pick the bay area any day if youre going to hit up ca.

come on out. its nice, and expensive, and pretty much always on fire or under attack by earthquakes.

The bigger the city and the farther away from your parents the better.

Fredericksburg, VA is an awesome place. You should go to the University of Mary Washington. I'll take you out and buy you 40's.

My brother went there. He said it was about 70% female which is the polar opposite of GaTech when I was there (70% male).

Of course at either school the same truism applied: the odds are good but the goods are odd.

Still too cold for my tastes. Then again, Atlanta is the farthest north I've ever lived.

95 with 400% humidity is too cold?

Oh wait, you're form Atlanta, nevermind. That's the temperature of a winter day.

Well, UGA did make GQ's top 25 d-bag schools list (#12 IIRC) while Tech was not mentioned. So, I guess UGA is better in that regard

Yeah, too bad we can't get any major acts to come through Atlanta. There aren't many local bands either

Computer Sciences is the general term, at least in liberal arts colleges.

In my experiences, I would say Omaha, St. Louis, and Chicago are the best music scenes. But be sure you're looking at educations too, not just colleges for the sake of landing gigs.

Plus Boston's got a great Hard Rock/Metal scene, and you can get to all the good clubs from the T.

My vote also goes with Boston.

All have good schools. All have very good music scenes. Basically just pick which climate you like better and which major city you want to be closer to.

Another vote for Gainesville, but I'm definitely biased.
