good-bye sammie

today we had to put my first cat sammie to sleep. she had been losing weight but nothing too serious, and then all of a sudden this past week she just stopped eating all together. turns out that she got kidney cancer, just like that - two weeks ago she got a checkup with her yearly shots and she was fine. she was 13 years old :/

here she was when she was 2 months old -

and here she is a little older, helping me with some recording...

here she is begging for some vittles. she was good at that...

my first cat. i'm gonna miss her.

What a sweet-looking kitty!!! She must have given you a lot of love over the years. She's beautiful.

I'm so sorry she's gone...I know you must miss her terribly.

Our Kiki is 14. Every time she wants to love up on me, I make sure to not take it for granted.

You can tell she was a great cat since in the second picture she is clearly making sure the bass isn't getting lost in the mix.

It's always so hard to lose a wonderful pet. My condolences.

Dang, John, I'm really sorry to hear that. Once you've had some time to heal, please consider going to the local SPCA and adopting another cat. There are too many that routinely get put down for no other reason than they don't have enough room for them all. I have had cats all my life, got 3 now, (plus two Sheltie dogs) and I can't imagine a better pet than a cat. Low maintenance, don't eat much, like to sleep, are fun with a laser pointer (backflips, anyone?) and usually very sensitive to their owners' mood- when I'm feeling down, I can count on one of my cats to come up for some scratchies, and to talk about it.

Condolences, she looked like a very cool cat. Lots of personality shows through on those pictures!

I recently lost my dog that I had since I existed.

And I lost my favorite cat, and before that, a cat we found and nurtured back to life was hit by a car.

It sucks losing the fellas you love.

But 13 years for a cat? That's a long time man. Be thankful you've had that long with her!
