Good laptop for £300?

Sign in to disble this ad
I am looking around for a new laptop, its for xmas and my parents have given me an estimate of around £300, so I was just looking for some advice on what good deals there are around.

I will just be using it for general usage, internet browsing, internet games, storing images and music, watching dvds, and probably not many other games.

I was looking at the cheapest dell ispiron laptop, which is £330 and my parents said that would be an ok price so i do have a bit of leeway, but if I can't find a better laptop than that i might wait until the next dell sale.

Just wondering if anybody could give out some other good companies that do good laptops around this price range?

Thanks very much for any info

I don't know what you mean by "internet games" but if you mean cards, strategy etc read on. If you mean COD5 then skip this message .

Asus Eee PC 1000H.
Perks.
-Awesome battery life
-Light

Cons:
-Not overly powerful
-No optical drive

That being said.... for your needs browsing, pics, music and light gaming they are great because they are small and they can go a long time on their battery. As far as watching DVD's I've found the screen size to be quite acceptable at 10", but you will need to either get an external DVD drive, rip your DVD's on another machine and transfer them to your laptop via an SD card/USB key, or download the movie... I don't know what sort of laws you have in the UK regarding this issue... look into it.

I payed a little more after everything when I got mine but I got a few upgrades, plus there are cheaper models if the cost is a little too high.
1.6GHz CPU, 2GB RAM, bluetooth, wireless n, and XP for under $600 cdn.

Hmm I think i would want an optical drive.

I meant things like cards, checkers, but also things like runescape and games on newgrounds.com things like that.

No, no COD4 or anything like that

Go used. Getting a used laptop quadruples (roughly) your buying power.
