Good website on blues-rock history?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey,

I'm doing a report on blues and blues rock for a humanities class.

More specifically, I'm reporting on what blues-rock took from blues, while reflecting on what was different. More importantly, I also need to show how blues rock's popularity also brought more recognition and attention given to blues in general + its artists that preceeded them.

Are there any good websites or books that'll help me with this?

Ted Gioia, recently published an outstanding book entitled "Delta Blues".
Here is a link on Amazon.

I have perused most of the books out there on the subject, and this one is by far the best to date. Not only is the information great, but Gioia's style and delivery make it a very enjoyable read.

Most of the related web sites really only scratch the surface, and most simply regurgitate the same old, same old thing.

Ted Gioia, also did a radio program with NPR,recently talking about the new book.I don't know if there is some way to archivally listen to it? But it would be worth a shot to search around to see.

Anyone serious about the Blues, should pick up a copy of this book.
Good luck on the report!

Yeah,TheBlueHighway is probably still the best internet portal for the blues.Especially the links section, although the site itself has not been updated for a year or two and the domain itself is for sale.During it's run the "Blues board" there was a really good resource.

It takes alot to keep a website up and running,I give a lot of props to the folks here at TalkBass, for keeping things operating smoothly.
