Good Work by the TB Mods

Sign in to disble this ad
I just want to take time to acknowledge and applaud the judiciousness of the TB mods. They allowed the OBL threads to remain active up to the point were someone became disrespectful of a fellow TB'er or otherwise violated a forum rule.

I was enjoying my participation in one of the threads until a fellow TB'er decided to engage in a disrespectful ad hominem argument towards me, rather than keep the discussion on the subject at hand. Within a matter of minutes, a mod rightfully closed the thread. Well done, and I applaud the mod's judgement.

The death of UBL has been an emotional experience. The mods have done a good job considering. IIRC, there were a half-a-dozen threads on the subject Sunday/Monday.

People seem to forget that sometimes personal agenda should stay off the table, make a point if you feel like you should and then move on. You aren't going to change the moral or personal stance of anyone on an internet forum.

The glory of the internet is that it's easier to hit the back button rather than try to pound a point.

Unfortunately that doesn't always happen.

Well, since CD started this thread about me, I'll comment here.

Previously, CD made a comment in another thread that was directly insulting to several if my immediate family members that previously served as pilots in the military. He deleted the comment, which I commend him for, but the damage was done in my mind. With that in mind, combined with some other comments made in the most recent thread, I made a snarky comment that I should have let slide instead.

I apoligize for my actions and regret that I may have caused any administrative headaches for the moderators.

Ain't we not supposed to comment on moderators acts on an open forum?

I believe we are to refrain from being critical of mods in public. No one is being critical.

waaaaaaaaaay way back in the day, I thought the Mods to be a little harsh and a tad much in the handling of thngs, but it was more a testament to me treating this place like my own personal playground...as time has gone, and *maturity* led my dealings with this site more with a "community" mindset, I've come to apprecite my dealings with Mods more and more...very recently I was reminded of a slight stray from compliance, and it was handled very very well.

I like it here. Surely I will still bump heads with some, but never with any genuine malice or anything...we cannot always all agree.

Yep. It would be completely boring if every OT thread turned into a +1-fest.

They're like good teachers: strict, but for your own (and the forum's) benefit.

One thing about our mods that I like - they're not so much opposed to talking about religion or politics, they simply have little tolerance for "da stoopid" (ie, when threads about those two topics get predictable, annoying, and goofy)

I'll probably get in trouble, but I did not like that the one I started about celebrations was shut down. The tone of the debate was strong, but civil until the last page or so.

That said, a member of a forum has to accept that Mods get to chose what is allowed. Nobody makes me post here.

Agreed on all.
If one particular poster in that thread had shown some restraint or had his wrist slapped (and it's long over due) that thread could still be going.
