On my way home from school, I got jumped by 4 16-17ish year olds. They took my iphone 3g, 25 quid, my school bag, my Gallows ticket (I bought it off someone at school) and they also punched me (hard) a few times. I'm kinda shaked up about it. How long did it take you to get over being mugged for the first time? |

| | | | I am sorry to hear about this.
I have never been mugged thankfully... but I assure you, the first person who tries is going to have a hole blown in their stomach. Just sayin.... |

I guess it varies from person to person but while I still get ticked off a little to this day thinking about it, it's not something that I think about often. just once in a great while. Give it a few weeks. You'll move on just fine.

It's embarassing and you'll feel like someone just violated your stuff and your privacy, but its not the end. If anything learn from it to be more vigilant and aware of your surroundings on the people on the street.
Oh and did they punch you in the head at all? If so get checked for brain trauma and concussions by a doctor. Blunt force trauma (in this case a fist) can do a number to your brain, even if they didn't feel that bad. |

I could've been killed or, god forbid, I could've had my P bass with me at the time lol |

Even though those guys were scum assholes that wont ever do anything with their lives except die from meth or go to prison, you have your whole life ahead of you. Minor speed bump in the road, but it sounds like your going to go over it just fine.
Funny thing about Gallows though cause that's the shirt I put on today. Great band, nice choice in music! |

You can report it and have the police track the idiots, the GPS data is stored for 1 year no matter where it goes. So they have a trail so to speak.
You have assault & battery and robbery at least.
I doubt the idiot kids realized the GPS aspect.
Then the parents can be sued and the brats can be prosecuted.
Get on it, and get even. Do not be a passive victim, nail them to the wall.

Carrying a weapon is the best way to get your opponent an extra weapon to hurt you unless you're very darn good with it (read: trained). |

Growing up right on the borderline of the Bronx and hanging out quite a lot in the Bronx and Manhattan, you learn very quickly how to conduct yourself in a manner that makes folks think twice before messing with you. It also helps to always be aware of your surroundings at all times.
Feel better dude. |

| | | | I got mugged once. Long time ago. Almost killed (2 guys; one held me while the other tried to stab me). I managed to break the hold and escape. They took a bicycle. I notified the police, but since this was in a bad part of town the police didn't bother to help.
Yes, I was very angry for a while. At the moment I thought I could fight both guys and still kick their butts and get my bike back. Somehow I decided that the best action was to let it go, and get out of there.
Fast forward to today. Happily married for 20 yrs, two wonderful boys, in good health. I think I made the right decision. Never saw those guys again.
You should report that incident to the police and to your school. Use the buddy system and don't walk to/from school alone. Nothing to be ashamed of; can happen to anyone. Life will go on and you'll be fine.
