Got my wisdom teeth out yesterday. It was quite an experience - they had me all tripped out on nitrous, some kind of other relaxant, and vicodin, and I was awake for the whole procedure.
The nice part was that they let me listen to music the whole time, so I alternated in between Bob Marley and Dark Side of the Moon. It was quite nice
Today, my teeth don't really hurt, but the places where my wisdoms were are kind of swollen (as I'd expect). I just want to be able to eat real food, not just jello and applesauce :/
Anyone have any advice for having just gotten teeth removed? Funny stories? Songs? Anything?

Relax, take it easy, medicate when needed for pain and wait it out...the clot should be good and set within 48 hours, and any bleeding should have fully subsided.
But yeah, within a week you should be able to go about eating regularly with only mild pain until the jawbed solidifies and the gums start to seal. So after the first 3-4 days, make sure that tho you cannot brush in those area, make sure you use a good rinse. And floss where you can brush to keep them teeth healthy. |

They had to dig all four of mine out from under the gum, if I remember correctly, and it was definitely an adventure. The disolvable stitches (if you have those) are kinda annoying when they start to disolve. They always seem to do it at the weirdest times and you sometimes end up swallowing them. Feel like little ropes in your mouth when they start to come loose.
You wont be able to open your mouth to its absolute full extent for a good two weeks (in my experience at least), but every day you'll get a bit closer and be able to take bigger bites of things. The holes are a little awkward too, but they feel pretty cool.
Have fun recovering!

I recently had the upper right one removed. It wasn't inflamed or so, it was just a bit in the way and had been reminding me of its existence for a week prior to the visit. The dentist got it out in less than 15 seconds. It was at noon about, and already in the evening I was at a bbq party eating steak and drinking red wine...
I wish I never have to remove any of the wisdom teeth in the lower cheek. They're said to be much harder to remove. Currently it doesn't seem like I need to remove any of them., but you never know...

| | | | I got knocked out when they took all four of mine out.
Got them out on Friday morning, and by Monday I could do whatever I wanted to (with varying amounts of pain, but it was manageable).

Genetically advanced? I think so... | They talked about that. Some people are born without em, others have ones that never come in, and the rest of us either have to get them removed or have enought room for them.
My uncle was born without them. Stupid recessive genes

The oral surgeon who removed mine neglected to give me any after care information and I had unbelievably intense pain from dry socket for a couple of weeks. Not something you would wish on anyone.... |

Anybody remember that thread where the OP asked for serious advice on how to pull his own wisdom teeth?
I had mine out a few weeks ago. Got nitrous for induction, then they gave me a sedative through an IV. Last thing I remember was the nurse saying "happy time" and pushing the drug through the IV, and woke up when it was done.
