It's not the big brute that my last one was but they're all made of meat, right?!
Got him on Sunday morning. .30-06, 165 gr. Federal Fusion at ~80 yards or so. Can't wait to get some yummy, lean meat back. It's been a dry couple of years before this one.

I haven't had venison in a long time. A buddy of mine would go bow hunting and bring home deer and on occasion bear. He served up some mighty fine venison and bear meatballs.
ps
Hope you took the bells and reins off before Santa seen you. |

Their smoked jalapeņo cheese sausage is amazing. However it gives my wife heartburn and indigestion so I didn't order any this time. Now I'm kind of thnking I should have. I did order a little breakfast pan sausage for myself though. This place also makes that to die for. Hudson's sausage company in Austin. Aside from the tenderloins and backstraps, which Im just leaving as steaks, I'm getting most of it made into these bacon-wrapped chopped steaks. I like them a lot because they're pretty versatile and they really take marinade nicely. I've never had a bad one. I'm also having some of it made into chili meat of course and some marinated fajita meat made from the briskets.

Cut it thick and grill it with healthy dose of ground pepper on french bread, and oooh baby it is irrefutable evidence we are meant to be carnivorous!
Sorry PETA, Bamby tastes goooooooooood

My 17 pound pug tried to score some venison this morning. There were 7 deer hanging out in my neighbors front yard. If I would have let her off the leash, she would have tried to chase one down and kill it.
