Got stung by a wasp

Sign in to disble this ad
I was biking today and felt something small hit my knee, some buzzing, then it felt like someone jabbed a hot needle in my knee cap just as I was about to pass some dude who was going kinda fast. I think the dude thought I was a n00b and had a leg cramp. I haven't been by a bee or anything in many years. I kinda forgot how much that stuff hurt!!! For about 5 minutes I couldn't bend my leg without it hurting.

Sure enough, once it stopped, I dropped it into high gear and eventually caught up to that dude and dropped him! Still kinda hurts.

I ran over a hornets nest in the ground while mowing a lawn a couple of years ago.
It was dusk and I couldn't figure out why my arms were getting prickly hot.
Look down and "Oh ****!" Bees! Not fun.

So did the hornets hire the bees to protect their nest or what?

I find it alarming that the stinging insects are rallying together.

Humor is good medicine for what ails you, so, I guess it had to be said.

Are wasp stings always like that? I have never been stung by a wasp, only a bee, and all it did was get a little itchy and tingly.
We have wasps down here in Australia, but they seem to mind their own business as long as you don't aggravate them.

My dad and I used to whack those huge 3 ft high termite mounds with sticks when I was a kid.
It's funny because their a pest, you're destroying THEIR home, and they are too wussy to bite you.

When I was a youngster, my dad raised honey bees; which are relatively tame in the "bee" classification. We had as many as 57 hives at one time. We also had nearly a dozen apple trees surrounding our house.

So, between honey bees swarming the trees during spring blossom, having wasps nesting under the sofets and finding them crawling the inside of windows ('cause the old farm house leaked like a sieve) during the heat of high summer and the yellow-jackets nesting/crawling the ground in autumn when apples lay rotting on the ground... Well, as important as they are, I wouldn't care if I ever had another run in with any of those mean little critters.

that sounds like a nightmare. I get nervous when wasps make a nest in a window they can't get in....

although, i did find out about the perfect wasp killer a couple of years ago....Gas.

kills them INSTANTLY. I shot one with gas out of a squirt bottle once and he dropped right out of mid air...it was great...i felt like i was finally getting revenge...

Actually you might have been bit by a wasp. They usually bite and can be just as painful. They can give it from both ends!

My daughter gets a nasty reaction when she gets bit by a wasp. Entire hand/arm swells up. Never has affected me much except a tiny amount of pain.

I had a hornet crawl up my shorts when I was playing an outdoor gig a few years ago. Tagged me on the thigh pretty good. I've been stung by bees before with no real ill effect, but that hornet sting kept getting bigger and bigger for about five days. Hurt like hell! I think I'm a little allergic to them. They make me real nervous these days.

Isn't that the kind of thing that leads into a Darwin Award story? Something about spraying gas mist into the air in and around the house until the stove pilot light causes the house to explode? Just wondering...
