Just saw it last night.

It was pretty much what I expected: a good occasion for Clint Eastwood to appear on screen and crack open a can of whoop-a**. If this is the last time he does so, I think it will make a good bookend.

AFAIC, he's still got it. He is the man. And he cuts everybody else down to about 3" tall with so much confidence and style, I just had to laugh out loud on multiple occasions.

IMO the film has a few rough spots. They flaunt the anti-PC aspect more than they really need to sometimes. The support cast probably won't get any Oscars. Frankly, I've never been 100% sold on Clint Eastwood the director.

Having said that, this is probably my favorite film he's directed. I felt emotionally involved and I got a few big surprises. And his character kicks major butt. So for any major Eastwood fan, I think this film will be important.

What do you think?

Saw it last night. Pretty good film.

It was a little heavy handed and came close to "after school special" territory a couple times. In fact, I think Clint's performance is what kept the movie's head above water during some of the questionable parts. But I liked it.

That said, my favorite movie Eastwood has directed was Mystic River.

I usually don't enjoy going to the theatres to see films, but my friend, who works at the theatre, brought me in to see it for free. I plan on taking the girlfriend out to see it. That alone should show what I thought of it. The ending was a very nice surprise, possibly a better ending than the expected one.

It was the only movie I've been to where the crowd was silent as it walked out. Very odd thing really.

Language. People easily offended by slurs and stereotypes probably wouldn't enjoy this film. There was some violence but it was fairly mild and wouldn't have warranted an R rating on its own. Maybe not even PG-13.

Yeah, hard to categorize the reactions in just 4 categories + bacon. (Or construct a perfect poll for anything for that matter. ) "Best Ever" is pretty extreme. I saw some reviews like that on imdb & thought I ought to accommodate those folks here. (Mind you on imdb you can find "best ever" raves for just about everything. )

+1 I want to watch it again, which is unusual for me too.

I liked it a lot so I voted Pretty Good. Every time Clint did that growl-like sound when he got pissed was hilarious. Also the barber-shop/construction yard scenes were just classic.
