Definite respect for the car.

Chrome is good, don't get me wrong, but advances in paint, aluminum, plastic, etc. technology and the dismissal of chrome by airlines and bicycle manufacturers (due to structural complications from trapped hydrogen) have made chrome less popular. Many young guys are replacing chrome bumpers with fiberglass ones and removing shiny antennae and door trim. Chrome just isn't the god of durability it once was with the advances in paint. Plus, with the gas prices, people want lighter cars, not ones adorned with heavy chrome and its even heavier nickel sublayer. Hence, carbon fiber is the chrome of today and plastic makes up more of each car than anyone would have ever dreamed. Also, while less relevant to most young guys, I for one do not support the chrome industry after researching the negative affects it has on laborers. Chrome dust from buffing and the chemicals used in plating (especially when done the proper way with a nickel sublayer) are extremely dangerous.
With all that being said... I'd take your car ANYDAY. It's well kept, gorgeous, and I don't give a rat's..... if someone thinks its a grandpa's car 'cause you can't judge someone from 2 miles behind them >: D
EDIT: let me also say that 'grandpa' means retired, 50's-60's, kids left home, etc. It does NOT mean cane, walker, bingo parlour etc. Those guys drive Lincoln Grand Marquis's (note this does not mean one is elderly for driving one, although that's likely the case lol) | Wow. I'm not sure if I just got really good insight into the 21 year old mind, or just got confused. Prolly both.
By the way, I'm 41 and I would rock that car 'til the wheels fell off. Then I would bolt them back on and drive until they fell off again. Then I would WELD them back on and keep rockin.

Your car is nice. It's a classic and very well taken care of.

Hipsters can't appreciate a classic ride like what the OP has.
I'm 41, and while I've never been a car guy with a great classic car, I admire all the older cars I see in my neighborhood and try to instill that appreciation in my son...while my wife scoffs at all the "ugly" cars I check out.
Her dream car was an late 90's RAV4. 'Nuff said. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
