Grandpa's in the hospital.

It does good to say **** out loud instead of keeping it bottled up, so here goes.

Last night about 1130 after work (oh hey yeah I finally got a job again!) I got a text from my dad that my grandpa had taken a turn for the worse in the hospital and was admitted into the ICU. He had been in the hospital since Tuesday for really weak health, but he last I heard from him he was planning on going home to watch the super bowl. Unfortunately they found fluid in his lungs, and his kidney and heart were failing. This morning they were going to start with dialysis.

Grandpa had been in the hospital two years ago for a heart episode (not quite a heart attack), and he really never did recover from it. He had to stop smoking and drinking, and he was on oxygen for the longest of times. His health has been failing for a long time now, and these recent events will probably seal his fate soon.

Two years ago it was really difficult for all of us to see grandpa in the hospital, and this time it's even worse. I have work today at two, and then I'm heading up so that I can be there and support him and my grandma and mom. I would go earlier, but the distraction of work will keep my head on today. This is really hitting me hard.

Please say some prayers and send your good vibes to my grandpa and family.

Good vibes coming from my family to you and yours Joe. Hang in there, stay strong, and pace yourself. This could be the beginning of a long emotional road. Here's to your gramps coming back home.

I'm not much on praying, but I will ask my Goddess to help you through this. Blessed be.

My prayers are with you...

Hi Joe. Please know that I am praying for you, your grandpa and the rest of your family. I see that you are only 28...I don't know how old your grandpa is. It doesn't really matter. Even if our loved ones live to be 100, we are never ready to let them go. Just remember that they are always in our hearts and in our memories, so concentrate on all the good memories and the good things from your grandpa's life. I lost my grandpa when I was 17...in 1967, but the memories of him are always in my heart, and even now I sometimes dream about him. May sound crazy, but I believe those dreams are him telling me he is always with me. I lost one grandma in 1970, the other in 1972, so it has been a long time... but, like I said, they are always in my heart. Keep the faith, cry when you need to...strong men do cry.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, your pardon Lord;
and where there's doubt, true faith in you;

O Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.

Amen.

Rest in peace John R Homes. (grandpa)
