Great deal for drinkers

Gotta love class six stores...
For those of you who don't know; class six is where one finds alcohol on a military post. Personally, I like Jack Daniels. And I drink it often. Here in Virginia, we don't have regular liquor stores because we are a commonwealth (at least that has been my understanding since moving here). We have ABC stores. The local ABC store sells the big boy bottle of jack
(1.75L) for around $52 and some change, I think it is.
I just left class six a little while ago...$35 for the big boy bottle!

Class six for the win!!

Yeah, I have a buddy that is a military brat. I always drink way to much when I'm around that guy.

Come to London, I think its about £13 for a big bottle of a basic spirit like that. What can I say - the English know how to drink like men!

Bah, I brew my own beer for cheap. It's absolutely fresh and properly aged.

Best part is no tax, so if you have a sale paper with a better price, bring it in. They will match it, and theres no tax so you get an even better deal than the stores.

By the way, how much is a half keg around you guy's parts? It's an average of 80 for a major brand, and 110 for a micro or import for us.

Ft. Belvoir (the nearest post here) doesn't price match booze. But compared to the giant rip off at ABC, you wouldn't find a lower price anyway.

As for kegs, I have no idea. I rarely buy beer and when I do, it's usually just a six pack.

I can regularly pick up the big bottle of Jack for under $40 at most of the grocery stores in my area, and often find it for around $35. California's good like that

Can you get into these Class 6 establishments as a civilian?

I at least have a clearance, but I am not military.

I buy my Crown at the Class VI. $58 for the 1.75 liter on the economy, 35-40 (depending on the sale) on base. There's a reason to re-up for ya!

You can go into the store as long as you're with someone who has a military ID or a dep. card. But at checkout they want to see a card from the person doing the buying.

Yeah the pay sucks in the military but there are some good benefits. Cheap booze and free college!

I was able to buy the cheap booze as a CIV when I lived on post. I'm not allowed any more since I moved off-post, though I still work at the same installation.

I got tipped a bottle of this two weeks ago and I have no idea how much they run for here since I don't really go out of my way to obtain alcohol. But it got me reaaaally messed. Hahah.

It was crazy when I was in Germany in the Army in our unit lounge. All the good local beer was 25 cents. "Imports", which would be Bud and the like were 35 cents. Liquor was insanely cheap. And they wondered why there were so many alcoholics....
