The front is easier to get a hold of, but the back allows you to do the quick yank and not pull the whole roll off.

How's It Hangin?

How's it hangin?

Which Side Is It On?

The general consensus seems to be over. Personally I prefer under for aesthetic reasons, but over for functionality.

I've honestly never met anyone that's set it up to roll from the back.

Wife gets on me about this...it's my one OCD hangup...from the front, ALWAYS. I'll go so far as to change it in someone else's home if they don't have it the right way!

I always set it up to roll from the front. If someone does it incorrectly, I'll usually flip it.

Yeah it really bothers me when it's back. In fact, I can't think of any advantage to it being back, other than it's easier to roll up, I guess. It just feels more natural front.

I'm pleased to see that the majority of the answers in this thread are from people who understand this properly. It would be quite disturbing to discover otherwise.

From the front. Only way.

Statistics show an overuse of TP when rolled from the rear. An average of one extra square is torn from the roll when used underhandedly.

Save the world, roll your TP from the front.
