That's for the new style racks. They didn't mention that when you bought it?

I love it when that happens. I think the entire staff of UPS, FedEx, and USPS should go through mandatory anger management counselling so they stop expressing bottled emotions on expensive musical equipment.

This one was wrapped with only a layer of cardboard with a layer of bubble wrap around the body. It's bent at all four corners.

The seller waited seven days before shipping and was like "what? I'm going to ship it, don't worry." I sent a message today. I'll give him a day to respond before filing a claim.

Another TBer bought a bass that I was interested in and when the seller shipped it to him he only put the bass in its case, wrapped a couple of layers of shrink wrap (no bubble wrap) around it and then sent it Parcel Post. The bass is fine, but the case has seen better days.

A friend purchased a bass case off ebay and the seller simply slapped the shipping label directly to the case on sent it off.

There ya go. People are always quick to blame the carrier when typically it's the shipper who doesn't bother to pack things well enough.

Shipping is rough on packages. No matter which shipper you use, they all have the same basic methods which involve multiple people handling packages as they're loaded and unloaded in various buildings, containers, cars, trucks, trailers, airplanes, etc. Those loads will shift in transit. Those packages will be exposed to pressure from other boxes, gravity, acts of God, the realities of deadlines, etc.

Good packaging will save everybody time and money, not to mention frustration.

Does anyone have that picture of the bass head in the box that's packed with children's pool toys?

But it probably worked very well. I used to work in the shipping department of a factory and it really isn't that hard to pack things well.

I bought a nice keyboard and mouse combo from a guy on a computer forum. He tossed them in a box that was at least 20x the size of them and tossed in a single sheet of the small bubble wrap. The sheet was about 2 feet long. It wasn't taped or wrapped around anything..just tossed in there.

Then one time I bought a VERY heavy commercial coffee grinder from a guy. He packed it in a box with about 1000 plastic grocery bags as the padding. They did nothing to hold this massive, heavy metal coffee grinder in place and it was hanging out the side when I got it...damaged of course. Plastic grocery bags?? Srsly?!

I got a bass that was shipped via UPS, the box was barely intact leaning against my door, in my apartment building hall where anyone could see it.

I bought a vintage trombone off the bay that had a case that was really just a wooden dust cover. Dude shipped it in the case and wrapped a couple pieces of duct tape around it. I have no idea how the case was somewhat intact when I got it, luckily the bone was ok.

I am so overly obsessive about packing that it sometimes delays shipments a few days. I shipped a Mesa 400+ recently, and spent almost $30 and a whole day packing, testing and re-packing.

It made it to it's destination safe and sound.

Looks like your claim will be against the shipper, not the courier. Sucks for you but good luck!
