Fire up the stove top under a skillet with the sammich, and grill it. Flip twice and serve on a plate.

last nite, i had what i consider to be one of the best sandwiches i eat. we have a local business here in town that is a gyro cart (street vendor for the after bar crowd). they have a grill, but they also do dogs under a toaster. they make a superdog that is the dog (veggie or conventional) and they put crout and cheese (melted under toaster) and 5 sauces and potato chip on top. so this is all well and good. but, a friend of mine who works the downtown cart invented something for me that kicks butt.
she grills feta, onion, tomato, and crout with some habanero sauce. while that is all getting crusty, she takes a bun (oversized) and puts 2 of the sauces on it (cilantro/garlic & 'special') with two kinds of cheese (jack & cheddar, i guess?), she toasts that till its all nice and melty. then she puts the grilled veggies on top, then she covers it all with potato chips.
it blows my inebriated mind every time she makes one for me. perfect late nite munchie out on main street. costs $4 (and a dollar tip).
heaven in iowa

-Mike | And here I was thinking I was the only one who thought that was the best deli meat, ever. I was so psyched to find it available at the local Market Basket when they opened last year....no one else would carry it. Almost had to buy it online.
Best appetizer ever? Peep this:
Lebanon Bologna, fancy folded with a slice of fresh plum, a smidge of cream cheese, on a rosemary and olive oil triscut. Simply incredible.

That brand is one of the best. We have a Hannafords here too, but they sell some brand from New York, yuck.
I grew up on it in Pennsylvania. When we lived in Washington state, I couldn't get Lebanon bologna anywhere. After we moved here, I was passing by the meat counter at MB and the Seltzers logo caught my eye. I was so excited, I called my pop back in Washington right then.

Of course you must add the only chip worth caressing the punching ball in the back of my throat.
Wash it down with a firehouse cherry limeade, I'm getting horny just thinking about it. Unfortunately I'm a three hour drive in either direction from a Firehouse. |
