Grindcore emotional?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've been thinking about it.....I really dig a lot of this stuff for technicality's sake, but is there any emotion in grindcore bands at all?

Most of the grindcore I've listened to deals with political topics.

I thought Napalm Death was the big name in poli-sci metal. and I know Cephalic Carnage is considered some to be a grindcore band but I think it's a little off.......the new Cattle Decapitation was somewhat mournful, if that counts.

Also depends on what you mean by emotional. Emotional as in being in love and sad? Don't know of too many grind bands that would do that.

not being in love.......just.....I don't know, emotional beyond this fetished "hate/gore" category most bands lean towards...

You be the judge.

"This is the ******* fist
This is our outlet of anger, our escape from the routine
This is our reason to breathe
The embodiment of a dream
Revolt on all your senses
Exclude all which makes numb
The revolution of music dressed in a grindcore coat
Let go of all the masses
The stress of mass consumption
The personal revolution, we're all here for the same cause
Subculture of a defunct world
Alternative to the routine imposed"

Oh yeah, this band is the Leng Tch'e. They do a lot of groove/grind and grindcore stuff thats music/society/government focused.

lol the "BR00TAL DEATH GRIND" scene is what's crapping up the entire genre. go back to hardcore if you want your sissy breakdowns.

and obviously you pull out the first two death metal names that are top in that business and have no classification as grind because you know nothing about the genre and you like to be one of the little hxc dancing girls that swing their fists around cuz 3/4 of the people that even go to the shows are afraid of getting hit in the face. You sir, have lost all credibility
TEH OWNZERZ!! COOK ME CHEZEBURGERZ LMAO LMAO LMAO ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL!! OOOO CONVENIENTCORE THAT'S SOUP3R GR8!

I'm such a good actor on the internet. I totally got cha! I was just yaking with you dude. I don't listen to anything in the scene. I listen to The Locust and a few post hardcore bands and that pretty much sumarizes the closest i get to "Br007al."

I threw those names out because I actually could remember them and the fact that to an everyday listener The Fall of Troy is going to be the same as Slayer is going to be the same as Opeth is going to be the same as Napalm Death is going to be the same as Arch Enemy.

Didn't mean to upset you dude. I think grindcore has the emotional appeal of crystal meth, it's cRaZy.

lol i have a habit of being too serious.....college messes people up majorly man. But yea, Plague Soundscapes material from the locust is pretty good.....I can't really say I thought their latest release was wonderful. You DO know that like the drummer or some crap from them actually played with Cattle Decapitation (one of biggest underground dm bands out there) before joining Locust? I just think grind/death are lacking this human element.......I'm guilty of it too as my primary deal is a fruityloops grind project lol. but if you like the locust, maybe it's up your alley

I dont know much about grindcore actually, but if SYL is grindcore then it is definitely emotional.

Cannibal Corpse kicks serious butt and they are death metal not grindcore. I know my Death Metal.

I'm not a genre nazi, but that's the first time I've seen SYL described as grindcore.

The way to know for sure if grindcore is emotional, is if the two styles involve similar clothing.
