Yup, it's Westboro.

Story not pasted because it has religious content.

Anyway, we can discuss the civil liberties vs common decency aspect right?

Why doesn't anyone protest them back? It would seem that a good dose of their own medicine would be in order.

Good idea. I want to see some Christians out protesting them. I know I would.

There's actually a group called the Patriot Guard Riders that goes to the Marine funerals that the WBC pickets in order to block them from view. Apparently they will hoist US flags to block their view and start singing patriotic tunes ("God Bless America", "America the Beautiful", etc) when the WBC starts chanting and doing their protest songs.

I can't believe that after all this, there isn't ONE single Marine with PTSD that would say enough is enough and climb up into a clock tower with his rifle.

"Those individuals showed what one motivated Marine and his rifle can do!"

Of course I wouldn't condone that kind of behavior, but I could understand it.

How disappointing. It's too bad that the fringe lunatics in Christianity tend to get all the press. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, or, in this case, the deluded and misguided wheels who are distorting the peaceful message of Jesus get national attention.

On a side note, why is Fox News quoting Wikipedia in a news article? That's pretty disturbing in its own right.

Now in all honsety, other than the bombs, what makes them any different than Al Quada ? (sp?) These folks should be shunned by all religions, not just Christianity, which they claim to be part of. What is wrong with people these days ?

From what I understand, the bulk of WBC is just the Phelps family...it's just some crazy patriarchal group moreso than an actual church of any sort

Well, the Respect For America's Fallen Heroes Act (signed in 2006) has thankfully banned protests within 300 feet of a soldier's funeral.

Now these wackos need some other target. It's disgusting.

Good for them. You got to give people credit for sticking to their beliefs--especially when they're bats@#t crazy.

Seriously, better these people are allowed to scurry around protesting in the open than hold up in some shack somewhere mailing letterbombs to "sinners."
