Growing old is no fun sometimes

...so my 87-yr-old father fell down & bumped his head this morning & ended up getting life-flighted to get a couple of holes drilled in his skull to remove a coupla blood clots and relieve pressure from bleeding in his brain... thanks for your vibes & prayers. He's alright now- feisty but has to stay a few nights in the UCD med ctr- ALL HAIL the awesome peeps in the medical biz. Now- go hug your dad even if/especially if you hate him. Life is short.

Glad he's alright.

UCD in Sacramento took good care of my daughter when she had a freak bike accident. The brake lever punctured one of the main arteries in her leg, she was in there for over a week.
Your dad is in good hands.

Thanks, guys- TB is SO friggen vastly superior to fb(please note all caps for TB vs lower-case for *fb*)- my wife posted this on fb at maybe 1 pm; not a single response. TB gives me LOVE in like 20 minutes. On topic, eff yeah on UCD med folks- GOOD folks.

My dad is 91 today, and I worry about stuff like this.

Glad your dad is doing OK - at 82 it till take him a while to heal, but he should be OK. Many people are still in decent condition at age 82...I hope he's one.

I turned 60 this summer and my body reminds me I'm not 18 any more on regular occasions - but I still do what I wanna do.

I just saw my folks not 20 minutes ago and the older they get the more I make sure they know I love them. They're still a healthy 64 and 59, but I am slowly beginning to realize they aren't immortal and oh how it hurts. I can't believe some of the things I said to them when I was young and stupid... I guess that's not uncommon, though.

I'm glad to hear your Dad's doing ok. Certainly makes you think.

Best wishes for the continuing recovery of your Dad. Mine is in his 80's, and we lost my Mom back in 2005 - so yeah, I worry about him & call him at least once a week (I'm in NJ & he's in SoCal (San Diego) ) and try to visit as often as I can. I know he's not going to be there forever....

Glad your dad is okay. It's great to hear how feisty and hardy he is, and I hope he stays that way for a good, long time.

), more just sayin appreciate your folks/friends/loved ones and your own time on Earth; there's a limit to it.
BTW, he's still in neurosurgical intensive care, but I think it's because they don't have a regular bed/room for him. Doing well.

Glad to hear your dad is ok. I recently had a scare with my dad. He now has a pacemaker. It hasn't really slowed him down one bit, although I'd like him to. It definitely snapped things into perspective for me.

My dad isn't up there with yours yet, but he still has had a few interesting incidents that have scared the CRAP out of me...mom is gone all too young...

Best wishes being sent. Hope your dad's okay. I know what you mean because my 83 year old mom had a fall about three weeks ago. Of what they can tell her blood pressure dropped big time, she blacked out, fell against the door frame then proceeded to smack against a dresser. Looked like someone punched her in the jaw and right shoulder. She's okay now. Scary thing is that this happened out of the clear blue once last October and she was fine up until three weeks ago. Out of nowhere it happened again. I don't get to see my parents as often as I'd like and that bothers me. Life is so short.

Cherish him and the time you have. My dad passed away four years ago this thanksgiving. He wasn't much of a talker, but I still find there are so many things I wish I could talk to him about.... football... baseball... car repair stuff... tell him he was right about some political stuff, wrong about others....

Yep, I still miss him.
