I went into my local GC to trade some gear in for a used Presonus Studio Channel. Aside from the sales guy being pushy about selling me a new one (despite my telling him twice I'm an unemployed student) I finally got him to order the used one I found on guitarcenter.com for 159.99. My trades left me with only a $30 difference, no biggie.

So I get a message from the store manager the next day in MA where the the studio channel is, saying that they had sent it out for repair, but the guy couldn't fix it. So basically, it was broken, but they still had it listed as for sale on their website. I gave him another item number for another studio channel in VA and asked him to price match it, it was $20 more.

This morning, he writes asking me if I contacted the store or if I wanted him to... well duh... so I asked him to do it. Next thing I know i'm getting emails that my order has been canceled. No word on if he contacted the other store, if they're going to price match it, or what is going on with my order. Needless to say i'm going to be REALLY upset if I get screwed on this... if they try to give me a gift card instead of my gear back, i'll be furious.

Regardless of the outcome, this will be my last dealings with GC, EVER.

Sorry, had to vent.

P.S. I heard my sales guy tell another kid while I was waiting that "you don't want to run a bass into a tube amp" I wanted to tell him i've been doing it for 5 years now, and a guitar amp to boot. This isn't the first time i've heard someone at GC say this.

You can't damn an entire company with thousands of emplyees over a couple of bad ones that you dealt with. I live near 3 different GC's, and all of them have good and bad employees. The guy I deal with most often is very informed, and always hooks me up with the best deal possible.

Somehow me thinks this is partly your fault. Personaly I'd have left any salesman who was either A) trying to pressure me or B) who hands over the money without a reciept?

I've traded my bass amp in and I was given a reciept for what it was traded in for and got another when I bought a new bass amp from the same GC.

I'm not saying this all your fault but, any costumer who hands over a product without geting a reciept of exchange is asking for it.

Yesterday my GF and her two boys went to GC. She said a very nice guy was very helpfull to the boys who are just starting to play guitar and bass. I set them up with gear, they were looking at books and a few guitars/basses on the wall. GF said at one point after quite a while, another femail employee came up and said to the salesperson helping her..........We have OTHER customers in the store!! He continued showing them gear and chatting with my GF. After a while, she ANNOUNCED OVER THE PA...........(whatever the guys name was) WE HAVE OTHER CUSTOMERS THAT NEED ATTENTION AT THE DOOR!!! At that point, GF was rather shocked and left with the kids. I wish I had seen it but then again, if I was there, the guy probably wouldn't have spent so much time chatting with my GF Strange place indeed.

Seems like that guy was not the typical GC stereotype. It seems like his manager was.

I'm sure that guy wasn't trying to hit on her I think he was just trying to get comission on the sale. He who sells it gets it afterall.

I once went to GC with my Grandpa who never met a stranger this kid was buying his first guitar or bass and was getting checked out but, my Grandpa kept talking to the check out guy and the poor teenager couldn't get a word in edgewise.
