Guitar Hero/Rock Band

It's funny, because as long as I've been here in Ko-rea, I've had at least three guitars in my room (up to ten now) at least one acoustic, electric, and a bass. Ever since people started buying Guitar Hero over here, it's the hot ****. Makes me angry a little bit, maybe just because I feel people should spend time trying to learn a real instrument. It's gotten even worse with the Rock Band. I'll walk down the hall to the laundry room and hear two or three people banging on the ****** drums that come with it to the track on there. This probably angers me because I can never meet a drummer with a set here, but as stated before. Ya'lls opinion?

It's only a game, it can actually help teach you timing and rhythm for real instruments (which MANY beginners have a hard time with).

The only complaint I have is when they THINK they can play real instruments due to playing Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Let them eat their cake dude. It's just a game, and a pretty fun one at that.

My brother-in-law is a Rock Band addict - he always plays the drums. He got pretty good, so we decided to take him down to Guitar Center to let him have a go on a proper digital drumkit (we figured it'd be less of a leap for him to try a digital drumkit instead of a proper acoustic one). Lo and behold, he actually played them really well - he'd learned all the hand/foot independence stuff from the game! Although he admits he was a little lost because he didn't have a screen in front of him with scrolling dots telling him what to play!

I personally find them to be terrible. I love video games, but not crappy rhythm games like those.

I guess we can add Guitar Hero threads to the ever expanding list of threads that reappear over and over and over.


Whatever. It's just a game. It's something you'll have to deal with. If it bothers you, you are the one with the problem.

I've played it a couple times myself. I think it's kind of a goof playing it and had a good time. Anyone else get a little vertigo from it?
