I must admit, I actually prefer my bears a bit on the stale side. It makes them more like gummy jerky or something.

I'm the opposite - I want my gummy to have the consistency of rubber fishing lures, or at least beef jerky.
My favorite: Haribo Gummy Rattlesnakes, because you don't have to let them get stale before they get chewy - they come that way.
