Long story short, I need money, so I decided to do an easy job on craigslist. Here's how the convo went down:
Me: (I post my name, experience, etc)
Him: 200 for a quick and easy design concept to start and to show me what
you can do, if interested i will forward the material. g
Me: (I tell him to send the material)
He sends it, along with some very bad grammar. ex: "here are the logos, that we can work with. george and the colors she
is using, maybe we should paint the ugly brown frames a silver color?
your thoughts?"
Keep in mind that I'm pretty sure his name is George. Also, we both live in Canada, so it's weird that he would spell "colour" without the "U".
Me: (sent some initial sketches, rough work, and design proposals, as well as mentioning that he would need to sign a contract later on)
Him: thanks for your start, did you look at the portofolio of the architect
with the dentist building and what would you propose to wrap around
the corner of the building and go all the way to the top to make a
landmarks statement, but not doing anything with the two floors of
residential? g
hi, so what i am offering is $200.00 for a quick and easy design
concept to start and to show me what you can do, if interested i will
forward the material. We are design-build renovation company, and i
work with other colleagues and architects who are also looking for
good people, who are reasonable in pricing. In addition, i will be
selling for a new web based renovation web site/consumer web site,
where there may be possibilities of being introduced to the head
architect of that company, who will be looking for people to help with
renderings of various aspects of a renovation to homes, offices and
retail stores. You need to be creative and unique in what you will be
proposing for me. The materials i willl provide you will give you an
insight into how i work and what i am looking for ie. symbolic and
metaphorical architectural statements through design, renderings and
architecture. georgeg
In previous messages, I made it very clear that I looked through the other architect's portfolio. Also, he doesn't acknowledge the contract at all. I also asked him a bunch of questions regarding his initial sketch, but none of them were answered.
idk. What do you guys think?

If a mod can move it to the off topic forum, I'd really appreciate it.

He sent the website of the laptop company as well as pictures of the front of the facade, but no website was posted. I'm thinking of contacting the laptop company to see if he actually has a connection with these guys, in addition to asking for his website/contact info.

Hello David,
I would like to catch up as I am working on a really exciting project at the moment and need a logo designed. Basically something representing peer to peer networking. I have to have something to show prospective clients this week so would you be able to pull something together in the next few days? I will also need a couple of pie charts done for a 1 page website. If the deal goes ahead there will be some good money in it for you.

Hello David,
I would like to catch up as I am working on a really exciting project at the moment and need a bass player. Basically something representing original black death metal / ska. I have to have something to show prospective clients this week so would you be able to rehearse every evening in the next few days? I will also need a couple of demo recordings for a website. If the deal goes ahead there will be some good money in it for you.

I only like them for buy and sell advertisement.

| | | | As soon as I hit the word "craigslist" a red flag went up. I read the whole thing and it seems sketchy to me.
