I've been shaving my head for over a year now. I bought a cheaper Wahl "Balder" clipper last year. I'm not real impressed with it. The razor seems to dull quickly. And getting replacement blades from Wahl isn't much cheaper than buying a new set of clippers.
I'm looking for something to use once a week, every week. I don't mind spending money on something a little more expensive if it's good quality and lasts longer.
Anyone know what they use in the U.S. Army? Something "industrial" like that would be cool. Where is Bill Dauterive when you need him?
I see that Wahl has a beefier version on Amazon now. http://www.amazon.com/Wahl-Professio.../dp/B000VVT94G
Anyone use it?

I had heard of headblade, which is a fingercradle type shaver, that I knew was popular too.... honestly tho I believe that too uses Gillette cartridges too.

Just looking for clippers here.
Thanks again.

Find out what brand your barber uses and buy that. Then, again, maintain them.

Just keep i clean and oil the blade once in a while.
It cuts great and is really solid, most hairdressers in the UK use this model! |

I trim once a week. Highly recommended brand, and it's what I see in all the haircut places I take my son to. |

Edit: Saw you are not fully shaving- go Oster. I have one that's gotta be 30 years old, still doing a fine job.

Unless the result ain't a (bumpy) cue-ball, it ain't shaving .
My GF won't allow me to shave, 6mm, or on occasion 3mm is all I get.
I use a cheapish Philips rechargeable one, hasn't given any problems yet, but the maintaining hover adressed, can't be stressed enough.
Without maintenance any clipper, no matter how good, will become dull and bad.
If You're handy and there's no pro barbers around, you might want to look into cutter blades that are easy to hone.
Most of them aren't, all sorts of portruding parts on the honing surface.
Regards
Sam |

Been using it to cut my hair, trim my beard and groom pets for 15ish years. I've got a selection of blades (for grooming) but I use a #40, #7 and #4F for my head and beard.
I've yet to have to replace any... but my grooming blades have been sharpened a few times.
When I shaved my head bald, I preferred the 'Lady' version of the Mach III... they are called "Venus". |

After every use.
I've been using a $14 pet trimmer from Walmart for years and years and it's never been sharpened.
