Had a stroke

Sign in to disble this ad
Just thought Id let all my bass brothers know that I had a stroke and was gone close to a year. Lost my paid membership and all that goes with it. I’ve got a friends laptop that shuts down every so often. A simple power cord took care of that. Yep, things are looking good.

The strok well, im still in wheelchair still have a right hand that is worthless (my plucking hand) can’t spit out toothpaste without making a mess. You name it. I probably had it. Lol. The two month coma I was in should have killed me! Just like a movie it all started with a wiggle of the finger. Thing are looking good though. Great therope goes a long way and the people here are all awesome. Family, friends, all make the stay a little more shorter and a bit more tolerable. The thing I’m looking forward to the most is they will be taking out my tachometry soon and that means real food! I’ll be walking again, or I hope so, but that will be longer then I thought. Everything is so up in the air right now. All I can say thank God for my brother. He has help in so many ways!

Right now I’ll just do some lurking (like I haven’t). Maybe do some posting. Just take a good look around. Good place, good people. No doubt why this is first place I thought of.

Good to have you back. I noticed you'd not been around.

Sorry to hear that the past year has been so rough, so hopefully 2011 treats you much better.

I sent you PM. While i haven't personally experienced what you're going through, i've seen my brother, at 13, then my mom 10 years later, then our little boy, at 2 years old, suffer severe strokes. The strength of these 3 people is something that i've rarely seen, and i wish you the same strength in your recovery.

Hey, Chunk, I remember you from one of the get-togethers a few years back.

Sorry to hear about your current situation, but am glad things are looking up.

I haven't been here as much as I'd like lately.

Speedy recovery.

All the best.

Mike

Thumbs up

Wow, what an experience. I too wish you the very best in your recovery, and welcome you back.
Your sharing this will undoubtedly act as a reminder, of those things we all tend to take for granted, and inspire a refreshed perspective for some.

Welcome back Chunk-o-Funk. I know that you have a lot of work ahead of you but it sounds as though you have strength and determination to fight the good fight and it is good to hear that your brother is there to help and encourage you. I pray for your continued recovery.

Welcome back Chunk-O-Funk.

Fate has obviously handed you a major upset in life but also a second chance which many stroke victims never get.

You are now confronted with an unexpected opportunity to discover more about what you're made of deep inside. Judging from the spirit you've displayed here it would seem that you are up to facing this new set of challenges.

Finding a way to re-boot your life in the service of aiding others may be worth considering. Your accumulated life's experiences, insights, and earned wisdom may prove to be beneficial to those who are facing their own issues.

At one time or another I'd expect that we all have experienced a number of those 'if-only-I-knew-then-what-I-know-now' moments of regret. Perhaps this is your chance to reduce that number for someone else.

Though I'm a stranger to you please feel free to PM me at any time.

John

Chunk!!! Wow. Welcome back brother. I've had a girlfriend go through a stroke from an AVM (arterial venal malformation). 2 months in a coma and life humbling recovery.

We're here for you brother. Be patient with yourself. Make physical therapy your religion. Not only stick with it but push yourself beyond it. The fact that you're able to put together a post is a great positive sign, IMO.

Hang tough brother. Keep us posted on all the sexy nurses. PM me pics of the sexy asian ones. So glad you found your way back to TB.

Grit. That's all I have to say. I hope the recovery is smooth and fast. Good to hear it's coming along.
