Can it stop now? It's been pouring down constantly for over 24 hours now. All the roads in my county are flooded. On my way home from work I was going in some roads that were 3-4 feet under. I'm so surprised water didn't start coming into my car. I know they say not to drive through it when it gets to be like that, but it was literally the only way I could get home.

At one point I was going on a road through a good 3 foot flood point, and a semi came through in the other lane and a good 7 foot wave washed over my car. I hit a deep puddle not long after that and drenched this guy who was on a bike with a 7 or 8 foot splash. I felt bad for him... Sorry guy!

But it's still raining. It's supposed to rain all night. How much worse can it get?

Oh well I move this weekend from our suburbia prone-to-flooding area to back downtown where it shouldn't be as bad...

Any other Floridians staying above the water?

I was pretty bad here.. I live in a subdivision (AKA Taliban compound), We have pretty good drainage, but it could not handle what Fay was dropping on us. It would have been really bad , but Fay took a break for about 6 hours last night. which helped out a lot.

My bro is in Clermont (outside of Orlando), and he's really hating all the rain. I was just down there last weekend...I'm glad I came back up here when I did.

Summer time, and the living is easy...

First time I moved toFl, it wa June, rained for 30 days straight. No hurricanes, just summer thunderstorm season.

You have a tropical storm. Didn'you hear the forecast?

10-15 inches of rain usually seeks the lowest elevation before
it finally runs off.

Castles made of Sand,
Run into the Sea.
Eventually.

This one is different. Even when we had multiple Cat. 3 hurricanes, they were usually here and gone in 6 hours.

I've NEVER seen flooding like this and I've lived here all 19 years of my life. It's just been a constant downpour for over 24 hours straight.

The summer storms are nothing. It rains a lot, then the sun comes out and it all evaporates... but I think we've had 10 inches of rain here today... Some places have had 24 inches in the last 24 hours... It's just insane. The storm has been stationary for so long.

I've lived most of my life in Florida and can't recall any rainstorm that matched this. I heard they've had 30 inches in Melbourne so far.

I remember one year where it rain nearly everyday for two months in Hilo, HI. This is the same constant downpour that you guys are describing. Talk about waterlogged.

Stay safe!

Hey! At least Florida isn't on fire this year! Ya gotta look at the bright side man! Think of the swarms of mosquitoes that all this rain is going to produce in a week or so. Get outside and enjoy it while you can!!

Your famous sharks will be swimming the streets. Watch your ankles It looks like one more day of rain for us and it will be out in the gulf or up in the panhandle.

For me, just a ******** of rain, stopped traffic lights, horrible commute, and closed school. I have to get my textbooks for dual enrollment, but FCCJ is closed today. No power outages for me and JEA estimates 70,000 customers without power. There are community service officers (traffic cops without the gun and badge) everywhere.

Not too bad in Jacksonville, but I heard some areas are under 5 feet of water. The engineer that designed the roads needs to get shot.

I just woke up.

It's still pouring.

They want me to come into work but all the roads I took to get home were massively flooded yesterday. I can't imagine how it will be today...

That's about right. The drainage pond in our subdivision went up about 6 feet. Luckily, it was still underfilled, or it would have been a lot worse. None of the houses I could see went under, but the roads were pretty much 8-12" underwater by the good part.

Luckily, this IS Florida, so a lot of the drainage happened pretty quickly. Most of the major roads are clear now, just a few backroads and subdivisions still flooded.
