I was thinking much the same thing. What the Haitian people have suffered in recent decades is unimaginable.

Very sad to hear. Haiti is one of the poorest (maybe poorest?) countries in the western world. As if they had enough problems.

Thoughts and prayers with the people of Haiti. They've had more than their share of troubles.

Quick, give them 90% of our country's revenue for this year.
We can always borrow more from China.

I mean this is a very sad event.

yes. not entirely, but yes

EDIT: but who cares for the presidential palace ?
The president has other houses. Other places to stay. The people whose house collapsed have nowhere to go now. + add the fact that they've maybe lost part of their family in the drama.

As said above, if there is one country in which it didn't have to happen, this is haiti. Those people have suffered enough

You didn't get the sarcasm in my post. The people of Haiti live in abject poverty while the corrupt leaders and their ''boys' live in palaces. Typical of these areas of the world. Frankly, I suspect the leaders of Haiti see this as a good thing, they can skim their 80% TAX of the top of the monies donated as relief funds. Sound familiar?

sorry. Stupidly enough I didn't see the sarcasm in your post. Mostly because this situations (the situation you describe) upsets me...

Sorry I didn't mean to come off sounding condescending. It upsets me too when the people of any country are taken advantage of, and this situation will be bad. The palace is on TV right now, looks really bad.
