Which of these popular shooter series' do you prefer?

I personally like the Half Life series better.

Call of Duty.

But between the two, Halo barely edges out Half-Life.

Half-Life, Because I am a pc gamer AND because the game is infinitely expandable upon. So many games have evolved from HL mods to actual games.

QFT!

That's the main reason.

Half-Life.

That game made a big impression on me when I was a youngin'

The opening tram sequence/walking around the lab was a great opener. It really made you feel like you were playing a movie.

Half-life because mouse & keyboard are vastly superior for FPS games. I grew up playing PC games. Can't stand playing shooters with controllers.

I've never really been into PC shooters, so Halo gets my vote. That game was our social outlet all through high school, lots of great memories associated with it.

I used to keep a bag packed with a router and several hundred feet of ethernet cable so at a moment's notice I could set up a 16-man LAN in pretty much any building with 4 TVs reasonably close to each other.

Half Life. No question. One of the best games, period.

Now, if Valve would just get it together and finish/release Ep.3, I'd be a happy camper!

+1 I can't play FPS games on a controller at ALL. I can't get the two joystick movements down well enough to properly aim in game.

It's hard to compare the two. One's one of the best console first-person shooters, and the other is one of the most ground-breaking PC first-person shooters. For what HL did for the FPS genre, I would pick that over Halo.

Without HL, there would never have been Counter-Strike, Day of Defeat, Natural Selection, or Team Fortress. Hell, the Source engine alone provided gaming with all the subsequent HL/CS/DoD/TF releases along with Left 4 Dead.

I don't understand this. COD has never had an entirely original storyline like Half Life or Halo has. COD started as simply a WWII shooter, using real guns, real situations etc etc. Its still based on that, and the storyline is still the most lacking part. Half Life allowed FPS games to have a deep, intense storyline

Half-Life. Except for multiplayer, that's where Team Fortress 2 comes in.

Half life by far.

I loved the first Halo. But Halo 2 and 3 campaigns were a complete snorfest of wave upon wave of enemies. It was clear one area walk into another very similar area with more enemies. No a lot of tactics other than shoot quickly. Also the storyline was fairly average.

I do like the multiplayer in all the Halo's.

I never understood the hype about Halo 1/2/3.

It's a FPS with tiny aliens with annoying voice acting. Kind of like Serious Sam but nowhere near as fun.

Half-Life, on the other hand, is epic.
