Hammocks!

Sign in to disble this ad
I just bought a hammock for my college dorm, and also to use elsewhere on campus since there's a lot of trees (a LOT of trees). I just got a simple netted one that's supposed to fit two people. It was only $20 at a local sports store, so I got it because I really wanted one, and to test out the waters.

Right now its tied between the two beds in my dorm, which are like bunk beds. Not the idea set up, but it still works. I'm thinking about getting straps so I can much more easily attach it to trees and stuff.

So who else on TalkBass uses hammocks, and where do you use them?

thats my bed
basically. its between my 2 walls, screwed to the studs with eye hooks, and i sleep there. i have a blanket on the bottom of it so my ass dont freeze, and a pillow and such, but its right over the heat duct from the furnace, so nice and toasty in winter. and ive never fallen out of it before.

We bought a potable nylon hammock for camping. it folds into a little pouch and it's real comfortable. Here's my wife chillin' in the hammock a few weeks ago when we were on vacation.

That Mexican one looks really nice. I like the tight weave.

I have one like that, only without the sticks. Bought it in Mexico, I have mine set up so I can use it in my bedroom. Hooks into studs.

You really need a big dorm to be able to do that, much less do it well.

Oh indeed. We found this out last night, when my larger room mate decided to try it out and had his bed frame fall over and land on his chest. It was quite loud, and he was wheezing. Luckily, there was a chair in the middle of the room that stopped it from actually crushing him. Needless to say, I took the hammock down after that, and just plan on using it outside.

pfft. i fell out of a hammock once, at a comically slow speed - one of those situations where you're horrifically aware what's going on, yet are powerless to do anything about it.

completely traumatised!

nevertheless, I do love a bit of hammock now and then.

I can't believe we haven't seen a picture of a banana hammock yet. Don't look at me.
