Hand Surgery/Extra Index FInger Muscle

Hi, I was wondering if anyone else has this...
I started playing bass about 6 months ago. After practicing alot for 2-3 months i noticed a small "bump" on the top of my fretting hand between the index and middle finger bones. I only noticed it because my hand was starting to hurt. For the next few months i noticed the bump was growing. It was really noticeable when i would put my hand flat on a surface. Slightly shocked at the rate it was growing, I went to a doctor and they looked at it and said it was probably a pocket of fluid that had built up from using my fingers more.

They said it would be best to remove it, so they opened my hand up and looked. The "bump" wasn't a pocket of fluid, but a second muscle connecting to my index finger. The doctor had never seen or heard anything like that before. He and the other doctors had to research it for about 2 weeks before they could tell me what it was. There are very few documented cases apparently. The scar i have makes me look like im bad at stabbing knifes between my fingers. It has finally stopped growing, even though i play more than i did then. I was wondering if any of you had bumps on your hands?

I once played with a keyboardist who had an odd lump/scar on his hand by his thumb. I asked what it was and he said he had been born with two thumbs on that hand but it was removed fairly early.

It would have been cool as a keyboardist, guitarist or bassist if it was functional. He said he'd thought about that but no one will ever know now.

My index finger on my fretting hand is a little bit longer than the right hand index finger.
