I'm going to NYC for my cousin's wedding this weekend, but I'll be free to see the sights all day Saturday (the wedding is Sunday in Syossett). I have a friend that was supposed to be showing us around, but I haven't been able to get a hold of him for the last few days.
I checked pollstar, and saw that friggin Bon Jovi is playing Central Park, and there's also a pretty good Queen tribute band playing at BB King's. Granted, I'll be with my wife, my brother, and his girlfriend, so bass shopping is pretty much out of the question. My wife has also requested that we swing by Time's Square...but that won't take long.
So what do you guys recommend we check out? I'm assuming we'll mostly be in the Manhattan area, but I'm not opposed to hoppin on the subway if need be.
Thanks!
EDIT: my brother and I are actually from LI, and we've been to NYC plenty of times...so my wife and my bro's girlfriend will be the newbs of the trip

I was really hoping for some kind of rock (I'd love to see a metal show, but I think my bro's GF wouldn't be down for it).
And I'd LOVE to hit some music stores (especially since I just sold some stuff and have some $$ in Paypal burning a hole in my pocket), but that's pretty much out of the question. Again, it would bore the crap out of everyone else. As far as ditching the family...that's exactly what I'm doing!
Fortunately, my buddy that lives in Williamsburg got back to me, and will be able to hang out during the day. I'd still like to hear what else is going on Sat night. Anyone know any good places for jazz around Manhattan?

We ended up spending over 12 hours in the city last Saturday. Rode the LIRR to Penn Station. Went to the top of the Empire State Building, rode the subway to Battery Park, walked to Ground Zero, hit up Little Italy for some pizza, walked through Greenwich Village, went to Rockefeller Center, went to the west side of Central Park, hit an Irish pub called The Pig and Whistle for dinner, then finally checked out Time's Square. Overall, it was a lot of fun. I would have loved to hit a concert that night, but we were all really beat, so we just headed back to Syosset after Time's Square (but we did check out Grand Central Station on the way out of the city).
