Hannibal

Oh dang.....I watched this movie yesterday after the Florida game. I wish I hadn't. Some of those scenes have scarred me for life. I know that Hannibal Lecter is not a real person, but the person who came up with those books/movies is demented. That movie is jacked up.

I wish I never saw it now.

Thomas Harris is the author, and the movies are all poor substitutes for the book. I'm not saying the movies aren't excellent mind you, but the books kick serious ass!

If you thought Hannibal was good, check out Silence of The Lambs.

Oh, and avoid Hannibal Rising, in either book or movie form. Both are disappointments.

Never seen Hannibal, reading the script now. At the part where Pazzi takes his wife to the opera.

You're really doing a disservice to yourself by reading the script instead of either reading the book or seeing the movie.

I have young kids, can't see the movie. I don't have time to read the book.

I found the script amazing! I have a vivid imagination and it laid out the scenes perfectly. More of a screenplay than a script I guess. Just finished it.

Dude - go down to your library and pick up all of his books.

Definitely not for the squeamish or those with good, vivid imaginations.

Screenplay and script are synonyms

And I love reading scripts, but only after I've checked out the films or the source material (book, short story, w/e). But there are a bunch of pitfalls to reading scripts that I won't bore you with, especially considering you had a respectable and legitimate reason for doing so.

Yes,that manbeef website is such a cheap and tawdry hoax.

What to ponder here is why would someone put such an effort into creating a hoax website with contact capabilities...how does the owner(s) of that website respond to inquiries?

I find the Kanamits, to be a much more entertaining diversion.

Disagree with the film being bad (haven't read the book). I thought everything about the prequel was of good quality and high production values.

It even lacked Julianne Moore which is a plus.

That said, my girlfriend agrees with you about the climax scene in the film (I'm assuming the one you're bothered by in Hannibal). I rewatched the edited-for-teevee version yesterday and was disappointed by the lack of good supporting shots.

I really dig that scene.

If you think the movie was disturbing you should read the book....Jodie Foster apparently hated the original ending and whay Harris did to the character of Clarice Starling...which is why it was changed to suit her...and she chose not to reprise the role anyway....(enter Julianne Moore)...just can't figure out why it wasn't changed back to the original...

(for those of you curious...Hannibal and Clarice end up as couple...they run off together after chowing down on Paul Krendler's brain...)

We can agree to disagree on the relative cinematic and literary merits of Hannibal Rising, but I don't remember saying anything about the climax in Hannibal, care to shine some light on that?

Sorry about the confusion, was trying to address both the original poster's views on Hannibal and your opinion on Hannibal Rising. Guess I didn't make it clear to whom I was remarking.
