The "Harlem Shake" is blowing up the internet

Anyone seen this yet? The following video has gotten 3.5 million views in a week and videos are popping up constantly. You can search YT for more.

As far as I can tell, the MO for the "Harlem Shake" is to have one person out of many dancing in a helmet while the other people are calm in what seems like a mellow scene. Then, right as the song breaks off, the video is edited to show everyone in the video all of a sudden going nuts. They are all about 30 seconds.

Some are pretty funny, I'm willing to bet that this hits the mainstream news very, very shortly.

The link to the original song is here:

I must admit I am a huge fan of randomness

Meh.

tastybasslines 02-11-2013 07:40 AM

It's the new Gangnam style. It's only just begun!

It seems as pointless as planking, sorry. I don't see the appeal I guess?!?!?

tplyons 02-11-2013 07:50 AM

Possibly the dumbest thing I've seen. Besides planking and Gargoyling.

they can at least come up with an original name...."harlem shake" was a dance back in 2000...

Been done before. There was some clip on Tosh.0 (from northern Europe I believe) where it showed a bridge being all peaceful and then it cuts to heavy music and (naked) people dancing all over it. I'm sure it's on YouTube as well; it's at least a year or two old. Sorry to poop on your thread.

Maybe so, but I don't think it was as popular...

+1 on the "meh" part.

Sure, it's viral, but I don't think it's going to be any bigger than any of the other videos which had thier viral moments.
