That bike isn't worth the 13k it is at right now. He is full of it. Worth $10-12k is all

It's possible

Hello, i ride a 2008 Roadking classic. Everything on a Harley is expensive. He is probably including the purchase price in his estimate. Yes it is very possible he may have spent over 45,000 on this bike. It is an anniversary edition, and it's a sweet ride, but that does sound a little extreme. It has decent mileage and tons of upgrades. He even had the motor beefed up. hope this helps.

I think it's *possible*, yes. Perhaps not probable, but possible. A good friend of mine had a Fat Boy that he had spent into the 20's on, and there was a lot more he was planning on doing to it, until some family issues prompted him to sell it.

I really like dyna models especially the street bob. I was supposed to check out the 883 and the nightster at hd in blaine but I dont like sportsters..I think I am too big and tall for them. I know harley can custom fit the bike for you but I see myself on a street bob I like the fat boy too. I dont know what to say about the v-rods just not my cup of tea.

What he invested and what it's worth are two very different things, especially in the current economy. I'd be very surprised to see it go much higher. I'd much rather apply 13K towards a new bike.

Definitely possible to drop that kind of money into that bike, expecting it to be worth something... but it's not. He's got the thing accessorized to the brim, and chrome in places I didn't think fit. Looks like they also did some serious motor work to get it up to 125 HP.

My old manager had the same bike, brand new from the factory, and without accessorizing anything. I'd say this "$45k" bike isn't worth half of what he's asking. It's certainly a good looking bike, but I bet it doesn't go any higher than $18-20k, tops.

Just like anything, the amount of money you spend "upgrading" doesn't get added 100% to the final value of the item.

It would be like if I took my Fender P-bass I paid $900.00 for ten years ago, and put a new $300 neck on it. It doesn't magically make the bass worth $1200.00 now.

a well respected hd wrench once told me that the best upgrades for engines are none at all.....engine mods require a cohesive plan and compatibility.....most guys just buy a bunch of bolt on crap that does not increase performance unless the engine work inside is done first.....if you don't know harleys,a dead stocker in good condition is where to start.....i'd pass this one

Agree with what everyone else is saying plus I'm guessing he had EVERYTHING done at the shop at shop prices *if* he has 45k in it. Bottom line though with a used bike is that its understood 99% of the "extra" you put into it is for personal satisfaction and will never be gotten out of the bike.

For 45k it actually installs the biker dooshbag gene that makes the owner park it wherever they like, especially sidewalks, and rev the permanent-ear-damage pipes 10ft from an outdoor cafe.

Seriously though, if he is $45k into that bike he is a moron. Do you realize the level of custom Harley (or any top end maker) that can be bought for 45 Gs?

That being said, REALLY nice bike right there. Very classy.

LOL - reserve not met bidding ended at 15K. He'll be lucky to get 10K out of it. Many motorcycle owners are completely delusional about the resale value of their rides.

What you invest in a car or bike has no relationship to what it will sell for.

It's easy to invest $40,000 in a vehicle worth $10,000 or less.

And really, I'm seeing some of that here on TB too. People thinking, "Let's see, I bought it for A, then added B, so it must be worth C." Just doesn't work that way in the real world often times.
