This is the coolest thing I've put on my phone since gstrings! I know a lot of you guys are into astronomy, so I thought I'd see if anyone else has discovered this...

Installing on my D3 now. I've been wanting to get into astronomy now that we live out in the woods. The stars are so clear and bright out here, it is just amazing. All the light pollution at our last house ruined it for me.

Thanks for the heads up.

I love how I can point it down at the floor and see the night sky on the other side of the planet!

Whenever I get some time, I'm going to find my old telescope and try the "indirect mode" for locating stars.

Been using it for awhile now. It's a nice tool, for sure. Wish I would've had it when I was very serious into astronomy. Instead, I ingrained night skies into my head, so a lot of the major stuff is right in my head. The obscure stuff is cool to have though. But, looking at a bright phone screen when doing viewing isn't very helpful. Even at the dimmest setting, I still notice that my eyes need a few minutes to adjust to the full darkness and get to see all the stars again.

iStellar is a great App, but StarWalk is much much better. Best Astronomy app for the ipad out there, and ive been through them all! The regular photo updates are a must-see. The interface, graphics and smoothness are just joyous.

My buddy has a similar app on his iPhone. Seeing "through" the earth" was an absolute trip. First time I'd ever seen the Southern Cross...it made me understand now why I came that way.

When I get my hands on a Galaxy Nexus (my first Android phone), that'll be one of the first apps I get.

I just installed it and like it much better than Google Sky Map. So far it seems much more accurate and isn't as jerky as GSM. Definitely a keeper!
