| Has anyone read "Consumed" by Ben Barber?

I just read a few chapters of the book, I don't really understand it. It seems that Barber is just trying to take as many big words as possible and make sentences as long as possible... I got some questions about it:
1. What are Dahl and Barber’s “ideal” democracies? How should democracy function, in his views? How would you characterize Barber’s “ideal” democracy? Even though he doesn’t use this term, what would he like to see in American and western democracy that is not really there at present?
2. What problems are raised by contemporary market capitalism, as well as its resulting inequalities? How does capitalism potentially and actually impede Barber's ideals of democracy?
Thank you!
