has your job, education/studies, hobby turned you into a loner?

It seems like ever since i went back to school i have had little or no time for a social life. my friends that i used to hang out with have grown so accustomed to me not being able to attend functions that i have been cut out of the loop, and now that my class load isn't as heavy (this semester) i still don't get invited to hang out. i have officially become an outsider to my old group of friends. a few even moved out of town without telling me.

now the only person i hang out with outside of class is my girlfriend ( which i cannot complain) but some times i just want to hang out with the now non-existent guys and watch a game and drink a beer, and i just cant.

sorry for the blog

Yes, a bit, but not nearly as much as having kids has caused me to be a loner/homebody.

My job limits my human interaction pretty significantly. I spend hours not encountering any other people sometimes.

I spend a lot of time talking to myself.

Education killed my long-term attention span, and significantly reduced my social life. It sucks, and it sucks to live for months thinking the grass will be greener tomorrow.

sort of. i really dont see anyone other than bandmates + my girlfriend that often- and when i do, its at gigs. really, i kinda like it though. is "loner" necessarily a negative term? or is "just my 4 strings and me" really a good thing ?

Agree. At times during that first year I felt like I had put my whole life on 'pause', to teach my little guy to eat solid food, roll over, sit, stand, walk, etc.

Things are different when you grow up. You consider people you see once a year good freinds.

I would if it weren't for the fact that I play music with so many different people. Between a full-time day job, 20-30 hours a week of music work, and an elderly dog, I don't get out much except to play.

Same thing happened to me when I got to college. I literally went from seeing my friends almost everyday to never. The only people I really hang out with now is my roommate, my band mates, and the occassional guys I went to high school with. At times it is a little sad, but at the same time it really doesn't bother me too much... If that makes sense.

See, I don't get this. When I got to college, my hanging out time went through the roof. Sure, I didn't see anyone from highschool but I had moved from L.A. to Atlanta for school.

I guess it depends on what/how you study. I have to work and study; it's the last semester of my Graphic Design B.D. I have a musical coming next month. All of these add up to a lot.

Quitting all drugs and alcohol returned me to my natural state of LONER.

Quite the opposite. Everyone studying engineering is a nerd. I, on the other hand, am quite cute.

I get the nerdy girls.
