Today I celebrated my first Thanksgiving in California at the Claim Jumper Restraunt with a friend from the old country also undertaking his graduate studies in California. They put together a delightful Thanksgiving fare that was as authentic as what many have at their homes except what we spent on a meal for two could probably feed many more guest in a home. Great quality , I would recommend this establishment. Just a heads up , it appears to be cheaper to partake in spirits in the bar then having them brought to your table.

I thought it was part of that theme park. A few years later, one opened a little south of Seattle so we went thinking it was related somehow to KBF. The prices are crazy high, much like a theme park.

I also appreciate how suprisingly toddler-friendly they are (at least the one in Lone Tree, CO). They set up the coloring page under a sheet of clear plastic directly on the table, which gives the kids a large surface to doodle. They also treat my 2-year-old with the same respect as everyone else at the table. That's the best way to get a good tip out of me. |

My take: Disneyland for fat people! Now, don't get all upset because I am fat and I readily admit it is one of the few places that you can walk out with a doggy bag the size of a grocery bag. Ever have the seven-layer chocolate cake? It's bigger than your head! I dream about the chocolate-chip calzone. I could go on forever!

Most would certainly have no issue affording it.

The restaurants feature a California Gold Rush theme, although newer locations have not included the numerous "artifacts" of the time period that are prevalent throughout the original stores." wikipedia.org

that being said, the sides were great, and i tried some of the entrees that others in my party ordered and it was good
i would say i should've known better than to have chicken fried steak in vegas, except that out of curiosity, i ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast at stations casino and it was not too shabby--although i'm sure it took the last 4 years to unclog my arteries

There's a place called Brother Jimmy's on Lexington in NYC that has this on the menu, but it wasn't open when I was there this summer. Anybody know this restaraunt?

I don't often eat there unless the next place I'm going has a refrigerator where I can keep the doggie bag. Man, I can get a couple more meals out of a single dinner there. The food is tasty, though.
The seven layer cake mentioned earlier is called "The Mother Lode." |
