No, although it's been tempting with a few of them.

Have you?

What have you gotten yourself into this time?

And I have not gotten into an altercation of any sort with a professor. I rarely spoke to my professors so the opportunity never presented itself.

Is this question based upon a personal experience involving yourself?

No, but in my younger days I wouldn't have minded getting physical with Mary Ann or Ginger.

Yes, it started off with a first year associate professor fresh out of grad school knocking my work ethic despite straight A's in her class, and me walking out. By the time I made it back to my dorm (across the quad) she had emailed me an apology letter.

You may not like me, but you sure as hell will respect me.

I nearly had an altercation over the phone with a Professor. Thankfully for him he was three thousand miles away from me because after the way he spoke to me and blew my $2500 investment in the course over something he had compleate discretion to make right I could have gone OJ on him.

No, but I used to sit in Philosophy class and laugh at the youngsters who did.

I've never had one. They talked I listened or asked questions. I think this is the best approach to learning

I did with my history teacher the first day of class when she said the Civil War started because of slavery.

This is also a college history class...

Truly so. If you ever want to see people getting into arguments with their profs over stupid things, sit in on an undergraduate philosophy class.

College band director. He called me some things I can't say here without getting permabanned and decided to publicly humiliate me with a wonderful range of expletives I'd never heard before in front of the entire band (finishing with an admittedly impressive flourish that can be paraphrased simply as "I'm kicking you out of this band, have a nice day.") simply because I'd missed a lot of rehearsals (due to some problems with chronic pneumonia, though he'd apparently missed that memo). We got into a bit of a shouting match, he shoved me, I told him not to do it again and of course he promptly did, so I punched him in the face and walked away.

Turns out he'd simply ignored my emails about my health problems and I got a written apology from him the next day.

I had a professor who taught Literature who always seemed to love to preach her extremely liberal, "politically correct" and feminist beliefs to the class. I don't mean that she was introducing her beliefs, or explaining them, or sharing them, which would be fine in my book, I mean she would go to the extent of telling students that they were *wrong* if they held a belief system other than hers. Very very opinionated. This is a LITERATURE class, let's learn about Literature not how she's offended by this and that....
Anyway, she had started on racial issues one day, and I lost it. We got into a big shouting match that ended up spreading to the entire class. To her credit I wasn't thrown out of the class or anything of the sort but still to this day I cannot believe that stuff she was pushing on students as fact and not opinion..
And no, it's not a liberal vs conservative sort of thing, I don't care what a professor's personal beliefs are - they should NOT preach them to the class as fact and tell others they are wrong. For a well-educated, seemingly intelligent person who preached open-mindedness and acceptance for all, the hypocrisy or telling students that they were wrong if they disagreed with her was just too much.

I had some professors that I didn't like so much, but none that brought me to violence. Most actually taught me something. Not entirely sure what exactly, but it was something.
