Have you ever had to forgive yourself for falling in love ? I guess for some this would seem like a peculiar thing to do but man those warm fuzzy feelings really taint your objective character analysis of someone.

I've been angry at myself for being in love. Does that count?

no, not really. Sometimes I may go back and wonder "what the hellz was I thinking??" but I figured that anytime that may have happened, I can always chalk it up to a learning experience so no regrets, no need for forgiveness..

The love of my life, 2nd wife, 'my favorite' as I refer to her now was a thunderbolt love. I couldn't take my eyes off of her. We had a child together and in those early years of childcare as a stay home mom, she wandered. Broke my heart, was angry but had to maintain for the sake of our child. Took me ten years to get over it and I broke a lot of woman's hearts along the way, and for that I regret their pain.

Now nearly 25 years later it's almost like a book I once read....

it most definately can warp your otherwise objective perception of a person, but that being said, I don't know if falling for someone, even foolishly, is much of a transgression.

stuff happens. forgiveness or not, you just go on.

I regret alot of my feelings. Particulary how I cant move on. I mean its alot better now but man it still hurts like hell. I used to think i was worth it but man I start to doubt it. That love, having it and losing it and not being able to get it back has been the worst thing in my life so far.

I sort of kind of regret falling in love (or something like it) with "another woman" while in a monogamous relationship.

I regret it because of the harm it did to the monogamous relationship, but to an extent I don't regret it because it was a unique/special connection between me and her, and luckily we were all able to clean up the mess and work things out.

So I've had to forgive myself for it, just as my SO "had to" forgive me for it.

Yeah, she looked like she just stepped out of the pages of Playboy, could rock your world under the sheets and I was vulnerable. Woman was crazy as a loon. Took me three years and a large sum of money to get out of that one but I learned that there are much worse situations than being lonely. You'd thought I'd figured that one out all ready...

you said taint, uh huhuhuhuhhu.
anyway, that doesn't seem right to me. you give your heart to someone, then they step on it. that's not your fault. so, you shouldn't need to forgive yourself.

Oh, I've definitely done things (recently! ) in the name of "love" that I'd like a mulligan for...

...I've also NOT done things in the name of "love" and would like a mulligan for those as well...

I don't get it,forgiving yourself because you fall in love? Come on its the worst thing you can do to yourself and if you forgive yourself there's a big chance you'll do the same mistake again. No thanks I'll keep punishing myself.
