Have you ever left a time capsule? (or found one)

This thread got me thinking about items I have left for future discovery.

I was living in Queens, NY, when Reggie Jackson retired and I happened to be sheetrocking a bathroom on that day and put a copy of the Daily News inside the wall.

Other times I have left a coin inside walls.

Most recently, while remodeling my own 100 year old home, I left a plastic container in a void above a fireplace. Included was that day's copy of the KC Star, the front page of the NY Times (printed from online), some contemporary coins, a tile from the original hearth of the fireplace, and a disc of photos of the house before and during renovation along with some pics of me and my wife and the dog.

The only thing I've found is an old gin bottle stuck in the joists in the basement. My plumber tells me that is really common and he has a large collection of those.

What is the purpose of the gin bottles?

Workmen would stash them there to dispose of them.
Drinking on the job was a lot more prevalent back then.

I was helping a buddy remodel a house built in 1905. While repairing some termite damage in one one of the rooms, we found the walls stuffed with old newspapers. Apparently it was customary to use them as insulation. It was a neat find, but sadly the papers were in exceedingly poor condition. They basically crumbled as soon as we touched them.

I just dropped off a time capsule a few minutes ago. It contained a detailed record of what I ate yesterday

I forgot all about these

It's been so long I had forgotten about these.
Found them in the flue of the fireplace.

When work was being done on a house I was living in someone opened up the bathroom wall and in it was a page from a 30 year old newspaper from the day I was born. The page was the astrology section and it said "Happy Birthday Aquarius".

I still have it 19 years later.

I think at some point in elementary school our class buried a time caspsule. Could be mistaken though. Only thing I've found was a soda can in the wall when we were adding to the house I used to live in.

Same here. I remember putting something in it, but thinking now I can't remember what at all. It very well could be what happened to my Wolverine action figure.

I found a deck of tarot cards once in a house in upstate NY. The place was abandoned in the middle of nowhere on a friend's property (there's maybe 7 or 8 similar houses on the property) and it was falling apart. One day we got really drunk and started kicking in the walls. Found a bunch of old newspapers and the cards. Newspapers were moldy and were falling apart.

When renovating the house I grew up in, we found a bunch of mice skeletons in the wall with leathery skin. I thought it was pretty neat.

I've left a lot of time capsules in the woods all over Oregon. I, uh, did not bury some of them.

I know of at least 2 being found cuz of the outraged screams from the poor Nat Guard soldiers I was with at the time.
